Smoothie Week Challenge: Day One

Well, here I am and it's been a little over four months since Sweet Girl's arrival, and I confess that I have done little to nothing about getting in shape...certainly nothing consistent. I think that is my thorn: my inconsistency. I waffle. I waver. Sort of like an oscillating fan that just blows hot air around the room. I'm inconsistent and I swing from one thing to another without settling down and setting to. Perhaps that's why I like sewing so much...it's easier for me to focus on something I like to do and I can actually finish a project. But losing baby weight and getting fit? Not so much.

It's not that I don't want to, I've just been too lazy to be disciplined and consistent about it. But I feel God's leading and help for this one: my diet. I know extra pounds will come off if I just eat well. I know what foods are optimal for my body and which aren't. Smoothies are good for my breakfasts. Bagels are not. Thus, the Smoothie Week Challenge! In order to jump start a better breakfast habit, I'm going to put up seven days of smoothies. Call it accountability, if you wish. Here goes!

Smoothie Week Challenge: Day One
The Basic (With the Addition of Oatmeal, Avocado, and Spinach)
-fresh strawberries
-banana
-avocado
-frozen blueberries
-peach yogurt
-fresh spinach
-Greens Wild Berry Blend
-old fashioned oats
-green tea (lightly sweetened with honey)
This is my go-to smoothie when I can't think straight enough to combine flavors. I know this one works! There's no particular recipe, and it turns out a little differently each time.
This made a big smoothie, enough for three servings...unless you happen to have shared with a toddler who also loves smoothies. ;) Don'tcha just love the background, the underbelly of my cabinets...composition FAIL. :D

Ta-da!

Yes, it is a little fleck-y, but it's tasty. No, it isn't smooth fruit-and-yogurt blended drink from McDonald's... but it has a lot less sugar and a lot more wholesome, healthful foods.
