Hah. I was already planning to do a Random Things post.... and then Mary tagged me! Serendipitous timing. So here they are:
Seven Random Things:
1) When I was eight years old, I used to exercise the school horses at a local riding stable that weren't scheduled for lessons, just so I could be near a horse. The folks around the barn used to call me Iron Legs because I would take out, groom, tack, ride, and cool down horse after horse, for as long as Momma would let me stay.
2) I took classical ballet at age four, modern ballet at twenty, and I don't remember a bit of either. :P
3) I LOVE making desserts.
4) I have loved any and all craft projects - from woodworking to leather working and from sewing to paper crafts - for as long as I can remember. Grandma Grace would send new googly eyes and bits of this and that every so often... it was better than Christmas anytime one of those packages would come. 4b) I can spend several delightful hours in Jo-Ann's/Hancock/A.C. Moore poring over crafty goods.... much like the Taylor men in Cross Creek Hunting Supply or Gupton's Gun Shop. ;)
5) A batch of good laying hens is a beautiful thing. So is a pretty, productive milk goat.
6) There is something intensely satisfying about the feel of a well-aimed arrow leaving the string and hearing the deep THWACK! it makes as it hits the target (precisely where you meant it to.)
7) One of my dearest childhood wishes was to marry and have children. Everyone else knew they wanted to do (career-wise) but all I could think of was being like Caroline Ingalls or Clara Hardy (G.A. Henty's Out on the Pampas) with a manly, resourceful husband and a bunch of bright children. And lookee! God has given me to the Steward to be his helpmeet and has blessed us with one vibrant little boy.
Praise to the Lord, who over all things so wondrously reigneth,
Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen how thy desires ever have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee.
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
If with His love He befriend thee.
Leaning, may I tag you with this award and ask you to tell seven things about yourself?
