Nearly 39

Soooo close! Baby could come any time now, and the suspense is getting to me!

At my appointment yesterday, the doctor said I'm about 75% effaced (the process of the birth canal changing shape from a thick cone to a thin cup, to allow the baby to pass) but no dilation (the widening of the cervix opening) yet. This is very good though - the more my body does before it goes into active labor, the better it will be.

I feel rather like a human time bomb...

I repacked and reorganized our hospital bag and last minute lists last night. I broke out our toiletries bag and hung it in the bathroom with all the things I could pack ahead, with a sticky note on the mirror of the last minute things that will need to be put in it, and did the same to our hospital bag. There is one last sticky note on the front door that has the master list of all the last minute things: 1) hospital bag, 2) my purse and cell phone, 3) the Steward's cell phone, wallet, keys, and watch, 4) my charts from the doctor's office, and 5) the car seat. Actually, I should probably add "snack bag" to that.... since at least Husband will need sustenance and I will want the juice boxes I bought for myself!

I'm trying to rest enough each day, too. I try to keep in mind that today might be "it" and not to overexert myself, but it's hard when there are vegetables strewn about the living room and kitchen crying out for preservation... so today I'll be washing, blanching, and freezing the purple hull peas that Husband and I shelled last night (my fingers are still stained!) and making a batch of refrigerator pickles. There's more laundry to do, and the sink needs attention. No, it's not nesting! This is a typical day of knowing what needs doing and perhaps getting to it all. ;)

One more thing: the doctor said their practice doesn't usually allow the baby to go past 41 weeks... so be it natural or induced, she'll be here within the next two weeks and two days! (SO EXCITED!!!)
