Mama's Little Helper

Today my motto was JUST DO IT. (No, that is not advertisement for overpriced athletic wear. :P ) Today was Clean House Day in addition to (Short List) Grocery Shopping, Laundry Mountain Demolition, and Making Dinner. I knew last night that the only way I'd be able to do it was if I just kept up a steady locomotion and didn't let my hands be idle. So when Husband woke up early, I did, too (and, unfortunately, the Monkey.) Husband cooked a fortifying breakfast for us out of the skillet - bacon, eggs, sweet potato hash browns, sautéed mushrooms with onions, and buttered toast. (I love Husband-made breakfast! :D ) And off we went about our chores!

I've been trying to get the Boy more involved in my daily chores, mostly because he likes being with me 24/7 - no matter where I am or what I'm doing, and it is often more expedient include him (and partly to not rely on aunts and uncles and grandmas and grandpas to watch him while I do the things that every other mother of five children does all by her onesie. Of course, she has the oldest children to help her by that time, but hey - I should be able to do this, right?? :P ) - and also because he'll be able to do some of these chores as he gets older, and he'll know how to do them because he watches me.

So yes, the baby is in the sink... "washing" dishes. Yes, those are steak knives next to his toddler spoons. (I do train him to obey when I tell him not to touch something.) Yes, he could do as he does in the bathtub and add some extra water... did you know that folks in the old days used to wash white clothing in urine to "bleach" them? Anyways. Husband first tried this, and found out that it is possible to wash the dishes (assuming you have few enough to not need both sinks and the counter - but who lets their dishes pile up that much?.......) AND entertain the Boy AND keep him within arm's reach. Win. :) Besides, I have a tiny steel 1 1/2 cup "saucepan" that is his own personal cookware to play with and wash. And take drinks from. Anyways. :P What a good day - and so much accomplished! If it weren't waaay too early, I'd be afraid this is some serious nesting. ;)
